practice makes perfect
Almost always the best way out of a creative funk is just making something. Of course, this is easier said than done but I have to start somewhere. With the teaching/freelance lifestyle comes a lot of flexible time, which is the perfect opportunity for me to make work. My goal this semester is to “make” for personal enjoyment each week. These parameters are pretty vague which has encouraged me to enjoy new media including playing with paint and pattern making with pixels and type. I’ve also been coordinating small portrait shoots, matching models with interesting environments, which is how this set of images came to be.
I’ve noticed the more I make, the easier it is. I don’t always like what I make, but at least the ideas are flowing. It was a pleasure working with Junior again. Many thanks for trekking out to Waltham for this one. This set was shot mostly digital but with a few frames of Portra 160 film mixed in.
