corporate and creativity

Midtown on a Saturday afternoon posed some interesting creative challenges. Roma and I walked between the tall indistinct buildings looking for the perfect light. The sky was particularly brilliant and the sun sharp that day, cutting through the sameness of the area. Stopping at a plaza with an intense shadow cast on the building behind, we played with the immense contrast. The pavement glowed with the reflection of the sun, blasting away some details of the film, an effect that gives a sense of age immediately.

Shot on Kodak’s new Ektachrome film, these images have a distinct 1980’s corporate sheen. It was fun playing with the throwback, using this foreboding dark architecture in contrast with with strong light. The figure is caught in the middle of structure and brilliance, corporate and creativity.

Many thanks to Roma for walking at least 20 blocks of Manhattan in search of the right light, I know it was a cold day. It was so good to see you, it’s been a few years since “Grown.” Best of luck with your future endeavors.
